The Curly's Cows Ranch herd on the Coleman family land in Port Gibson

Our story

Rooted in family.
Raised with purpose.

More than a century of family land, three generations of cattlemen and a commitment to give our neighbors beef they can trace back to the pasture.

The Coleman family land

Curly’s Cows Ranch is more than a name. It is a family story that reaches back over 100 years.

My grandfather, AJ “Curly” Coleman, raised cattle, hogs and other livestock on this land in Port Gibson, Mississippi. I grew up here watching him care for his animals, and those early years shaped the way I think about hard work, family and the responsibility that comes with raising food.

As my grandfather got older, our family sold the animals. The land sat without livestock for nearly 20 years, but it never stopped being part of who we were.

In 2015, my father and I decided to bring cattle back to the family land. Together, we began a commercial cow-calf operation and wholesaled cow-calf pairs. When my father passed away in 2023, continuing the work we restarted together became even more meaningful.

In 2026, I decided it was time to offer beef directly from our farm. I was concerned about the quality and lack of connection behind too much of the meat reaching the market. I wanted families to have another choice: high-quality beef from a place they can see and people they can know.

Today, Curly’s Cows Ranch is a small, Black-owned operation raising commercial Black and Red Angus with hands-on care. We grow and use our own grass and hay so we can take an active role in the quality of our cattle’s feed.

Our goal is simple: give our customers a quality cut of beef with a real story behind it. Knowing where your food comes from is increasingly rare. Here, it begins on family land in Port Gibson—and we are proud to show you.
